    to agree. ‘It's fine. It's empowering. It's taking control,' they cry, pointing out that the site has loads
    of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.

    And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn't just about sex.

    Of course, they're right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars
    and the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie
    Price, who are happy to tease their followers with a few
    cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.

    I spend an afternoon browsing the site and,
    while it is not all ‘spicy' content as the company executives like to call it, everything
    is dripping with sauce and promise.

    The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard to make the platform
    more mainstream - offering contracts and financial incentives to encourage musicians, sports stars, cooks, anyone really, to come on and share a bit of exclusive
    - or niche - content.

    Really, anything that people will pay to look at -
    glimpses backstage at concerts. Celebrities
    in the bath.

    During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to
    share pictures of their beautifully toned bodies.

    Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the site to share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals of nudity' for $14.99 a month.

    Lottie Moss  has also taken to the adults-only online content provider that was founded
    in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives

    Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial
    difficulties.

    All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather murkier for others.

    Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support industry of ‘sugar
    daddies' who support performers financially and
    ‘chatters' who work for them. ‘Sugar daddies' tend to
    be older male businessmen who ‘invest' in promising creatives.

    In what are referred to rather murkily as ‘mutually beneficial deals', they
    invest in branding and marketing and videography to boost traffic.

    Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so high and the interaction with followers so demanding that if they had to do it all themselves, there's no
    way they would ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.

    So ‘chatters' - a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac -
    do that for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy and most
    of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.

    Which means, of course, that the whole thing
    is a total scam. The poor daft subscriber thinks he's really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham',
    but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged father of three from the Philippines.

    He will have learnt everything about Tracey - her
    favourite colour, favourite animal and favourite position - have studied a script that reminds him
    ‘it's all about selling, selling, selling', and
    will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts.
    Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot - which perhaps
    is more appealing.

    Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland, discovered when she learned that one of her most enthusiastic followers had travelled to her home town to find her, encouraged

    ‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never, ever have said that,' she said.

    But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are not a problem for
    most creatives. Almost all of whom are still struggling to
    make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.

    They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or former Disney child star Bella Thorne, who famously made a record-
    breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August 2020.

    (Though initially there was some confusion as to whether she would be appearing nude or not.
    She did not - which caused quite a rumpus.)

    Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing
    social media followers to their OnlyFans accounts, most people find it hard to grab attention without doing something,
    well, grabby.

    So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative is still just $150 (£118) a month and, with the market now
    so flooded, is only likely to go one way.

    And it's easy to see how, if you're a young woman who
    has convinced yourself that you're in control, empowered and mistress of your own destiny,
    you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or
    perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.

    Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips,
    you've kept nothing back for yourself.

    Nothing signals the start of winter quite like the return of the Fair Isle knit.

    Once considered ‘ugly' knitwear we'd only pull out
    from the back of our wardrobes as an alternative to a Christmas jumper (especially the red-nosed reindeer
    kind à la Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary) or for a winter sport holiday (specifically for après-ski), the Fair
    Isle jumper has now become somewhat of a fashion statement.

    The knit is named after the small, eponymous Shetland Island in Scotland
    and uses a traditional knitting technique to create those distinctive
    patterns with multiple colours. It was brought into vogue by an earlier Prince
    of Wales (later Edward VIII) in the 1920s, and has remained a
    casual wardrobe staple for members of the Royal Family, including Kate
    Middleton, whose jumper collection includes at least three different Fair Isle designs.

    Another fan of the nostalgic knit is Alexa Chung, who recently
    layered a Fair Isle vest by Molly Goddard over a light blue button-down in a snap for Instagram.

    proving the multicoloured jumpers have become a timeless investment.

    Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is at the
    heart of their reason for entering Parliament in the first place
    hear themselves?

    In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against
    proposed electoral reforms that the major parties look set to come together to support.

    The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate,
    caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual
    electorates to prevent the equivalent of an arms race, and a $90million limit on what any party can spend at
    an election - actually less than the major parties currently spend.

    The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations,
    thus increasing the transparency of who makes political donations in the first place.

    So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using their cash to influence election outcomes
    - and the extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited.

    The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.

    At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made - but you only find
    out the details of who has given what to whom many months later, well after elections are won and lost.

    In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much greater transparency and far
    less big money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.

    Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were 'running scared' with the policy and warned the reform would 'not stop the rot' 

    Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning shot - saying if
    it serves only the major parties 'it's a rort, not reform'. Teal independent ACT
    senator David Pocock (right) said: 'What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up'

    Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as opposed to $16,000 under the
    current rules, will need to disclose having done so. And how much they
    can donate will be capped.

    Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the
    proposed new laws, labeling them a 'stitch-up', 'outrageous' and 'a rort, not a reform'. 

    They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor's proposal just might secure the support of
    the opposition.

    I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this
    column.

    Because I had assumed - incorrectly - that these important transparency measures stamping out the
    influence of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the
    corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major
    parties closer to accountability.

    More fool me.

    The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being put forward by
    Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers.

    It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too much on this issue.

    Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors such as Clive
    Palmer

    Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal
    funder Simon Holmes à Court

    The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to
    their irregular calls to tighten donations rules (Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator Mehreen Faruqi are pictured)

    The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the
    Teals. 

    And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the
    wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules.

    Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running
    a mile from reforms that will curtail dark art of political donations.

    The Labor government isn't even seeking for these transparency rules to take effect immediately, by the way.
    It won't be some sort of quick-paced power play
    before the next election designed to catch the crossbench out.

    They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone enough time
    to absorb and understand the changes before preparing
    for them.

    Don't get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to go over the laws
    with a fine tooth comb.

    As they should - because it certainly isn't beyond
    Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would
    create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking advantage of, therefore
    disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come.

    But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal
    to get these proposed laws implemented, the crossbench should offer their support, not cynical opposition,
    to what is being advocated for.

    They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be incorporated in the package.

    To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard
    false commentary about being in politics to 'clean things up'.

    LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
    roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said was positive for its competitors in the short term.

    The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two
    thirds of its net revenues to come from "smoke-free" products by 2030,
    up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the shift to
    healthier alternatives.

    Investors have been closely watching IQOS' entry into the U.S., the
    world's largest market for nicotine products, and had been expecting it from May 2024
    next year. Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists
    across a host of key U.S. states ahead of the launch.

    Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities
    in two unnamed U.S. states from 2024, but a national launch would
    only come after PMI receives approval to sell the latest version, known as
    IQOS ILUMA.

    The company was planning to apply for approval in October
    and expected it from 2025, he continued.

    "We need to warm up the tyres," he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI fine tune
    its approach.

    A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he continued, adding launching in 10 states in the first year would make sense.

    Meaningful traction for PMI's heated tobacco products in the
    U.S. "now looks delayed until ILUMA," Owen Bennett, equity analyst
    at Jefferies, said in a note, adding this was a positive
    for PMI's rivals.

    Olczak also signalled that PMI's push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
    It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues
    to come from sales of such products by 2025.

    Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said,
    adding it had been too optimistic around acceptance
    of big tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.

    PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and earnings per share, and ambitious
    volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.

    ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S. would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA, executives said.

    The Smile sequel starring Scott, 31,  as a pop star who begins experiencing terrifying
    and inexplicable events as she prepares for a world tour, opened wide in more than 3,600
    theaters, pulling in a payday of $23 million.

    Ray, whose mom is Nicholson's former partner Rebecca Broussard, shocked fans with
    an eerie grin in the new movie, which was near-identical to the Oscar-winner's maniacal smile
    as Jack Torrance in the 1980 Stanley Kubrick classic, The Shining.

    In a legendary scene, an insane Jack hacks at a bathroom door with an axe as his
    cowering wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) screams inside. As he busts a hole in the door, he sticks his face through,
    grins and exclaims: 'Here's Johnny!' in an improvised line.

    The original Smile, released in September 2022, and starring Sosie Bacon, was a sleeper hit, which was well received and
    earned $217,408,513 globally.

    Smile 2 has received a 83-percent critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes
    and an 83-percent Popcornmeter rating from audiences.

    The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office,
    good enough for the weekend's top spot, but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.

    Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and
    its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature
    of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining
    the franchise.

    'Joker 2 was amazing,' one user said, adding that it was '100% as divisive as
    people are making it out to be. I love that the film didn't try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
    It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing
    aspects.'

    Another user said, 'I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as
    a meta-exploration of the first film's fandom and the musical elements were a lot of fun.'

    a ring that recruited young men to have sex with him and Smith.

    Prosecutors allege that between December 2008 and March 2015 Jeffries, Smith and
    Jacobson used a combination of "force, fraud and coercion" to traffic men in a sprawling prostitution enterprise.

    Charging documents detail 15 anonymous victims,
    but prosecutors suggest the scale was probably much larger and have appealed for witnesses
    and victims to come forward.

    Prosecutors say young men were taken to the New York home
    of Jeffries and Smith and to hotels in Britain, France, Italy, Morocco to have
    sex with them.

    Jeffries faces the prospect of life in prison if convicted.

    Jacobson also pleaded not guilty to the same charges
    as the other defendants and was released on half a million dollars bond in October.

    The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the average London property
    value of around £500,000, and 130 times the national average price of £268,000 revealed
    in today's Nationwide house price survey for November.

    The development's basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room for a health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool as well as a car park.

    The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice RAMSA, with contractors, Mace,
    the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of
    the basement substructure and superstructure.

    Due to complete in Spring 2026 after a six years build the scheme will easily surpass London's previous record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.

    Caudwell - who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u - attended the topping
    out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of the construction team.

    The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one
    of 79 at roof level, being put into place on the top of the nine-storey
    main apartment building.

    No expense has been spared on the building's interior and it will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo's Map of the Heavens in the Vatican,
    a reception room with a double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows
    overlooking the garden.

    There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall
    of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over 1,264 hand-set pieces of cut glass, a library and a garden gallery,
    with seating areas opening directly onto the central courtyard garden.
