No último sábado a ASIBRAM esteve no Parque Lago do Cortado, em Taguatinga, para inauguração
da pedra fundamental do 1º Hospital Veterinário Público do Distrito Federal pelo Governador Agnelo.
O projeto do Hospital Veterinário prevê a reforma de seis galpões atualmente subutilizados
no Parque, nos quais futuramente serão implantados serviços de consultas, cirurgias,
laboratórios, além de uma unidade exclusiva para castração gratuita de cães e gatos.
Os beneficiados prioritários serão aqueles comprovadamente cadastrados em programas do Governo
do Distrito Federal, ONGs de Proteção Animal e Abrigos.
A ASIBRAM reconhece a importância desta iniciativa,
pois a sanidade dos animais interfere diretamente na
saúde das pessoas e do meio em que vivemos.
Por exemplo,a atual falta de controle reprodutivo
dos animais domésticos reflete nas nossas Unidades
de Conservação, que são reiteradamente invadidas por cães, causando grande desequilíbrio ambiental.
Em relação às doenças existentes, muitas podem atingir pessoas e animais domésticos, e também
animais silvestres. Portanto, conhecer seus ciclos, formas de transmissão, divulgar, prevenir,
e também tratar, é fator determinante para a saúde ambiental. Acrescentam-se também os casos
de abandono, abuso e maus-tratos aos animais, que são crimes ambientais de competência
administrativa do Instituto Brasília Ambiental - IBRAM.
